The 75-year-old star, who is renowned for his versatility and constant willingness to take on challenging roles, spent the day with family and close friends in Chennai. He was accompanied by his wife, while his son Dulquer Salmaan—who recently appeared in the film “I’m Game”—joined him along with his wife and child.
In a heartfelt gesture, fans and the Mammootty Fans and Welfare Association organized a statewide blood donation drive titled “MGM Jeevamritham Blood Donation Camp.” The initiative, which began on the actor’s birthday, has already seen participation from around 25,000 people and will continue until September 30. The drive was inaugurated in Thiruvananthapuram by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala.
While Mammootty was in Chennai, he was also working on his upcoming film “Mela,” directed by Nitheesh Sahadev. The title and first-look poster were released on his birthday, and shooting locations included Karaikudi and nearby areas in Tamil Nadu.
The veteran actor is set to receive the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in “Bramayugam.” He will share the honor with Karthik Aaryan, who won for “Chandu Champion.” The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Gujarat during the last week of September.
Additional celebrations, titled “Manjaiyude Janmadinaghosham,” will be held in Vaikom, organized by the Chembil Arayan Boat Club. The name “Manjai” was Mammootty’s pen name during his school days, derived from a part of his own name and the initials of his friend Dhananjay.
