Arishfa Khan tops Bigg Boss 20 with 29.1m Instagram followers; outshines Bollywood and South Indian stars

Salman Khan’s reality series Bigg Boss 20 debuted on September 6, with the host unveiling a new cohort of contestants who will battle for the coveted trophy. While the show has drawn viewers, some have taken issue with the roster, arguing that it lacks enough high‑profile names. Yet one participant stands out by sheer social‑media clout, eclipsing several established Bollywood and South Indian film stars. That contestant is Arishfa Khan.

Arishfa Khan, born in 2003, entered the Bigg Boss house as one of its youngest members. She began her acting career as a child artist in 2012 and made her television debut on the show Chhal – Sheh Aur Maat. She later gained recognition for her role in Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera. Her mother, a stuntwoman, inspired her early interest in acting, and Arishfa has since appeared in popular TV series such as Jeannie Aur Juju, Uttaran, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Gangaa, and Meri Durga.

In 2018, Arishfa landed her first leading role in the Star Bharat show Papa By Chance. She recalled that day, saying, “When I got my first lead show, Mom hugged me and cried. People would say, ‘A stuntwoman’s daughter has become a heroine,’ and it made mom swell with pride. There was no stopping after that– at 14, I even played a married woman. It was really hard for me to emote, but I’d observe all the aunties and copy their style to make my character more believable!” This interview appeared in Humans of Bombay in 2020.

After establishing herself on television, Arishfa transitioned to digital content, amassing a substantial following during India’s TikTok boom. She began producing short‑form videos and later expanded across multiple platforms, including Instagram, where she now boasts approximately 29.1 million followers. This figure places her ahead of major Indian film stars such as Kareena Kapoor (13.9 million), Janhvi Kapoor (26.7 million), Allu Arjun (27.9 million), and Prabhas (13.9 million). Despite being only 23 and not yet featuring in major theatrical releases, her popularity stems from years of work in television and online content, covering GRWM videos, travel vlogs, trend‑based clips, and lifestyle pieces.

Within the 16 contestants of the Bigg Boss 20 house, Arishfa holds the largest Instagram following. The second‑highest follows YouTuber and esports player Tanmay Singh, better known as Kanika Mann, with around 7.3 million followers. Other contestants trail behind: ScoutOP has about 4.4 million, while Mary Kom has roughly 2 million. Arishfa’s social‑media dominance highlights the growing influence of digital creators in India’s entertainment landscape.
