Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has been in the headlines for his rigorous enforcement of food safety standards in Mumbai. Since taking charge of the FDA, he has shut down numerous eateries and restaurants that failed to meet hygiene and safety regulations, and has issued show‑cause notices to high‑profile figures such as Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff over Vimal Elaichi advertisements that the regulator said promoted banned Vimal Pan Masala.
Zinta is not the only celebrity backing Mundhe. Twinkle Khanna has publicly expressed her support, and actor Manoj Bajpayee praised the commissioner’s dedication and honesty. In an interview with ANI, Bajpayee remarked, “A police officer, or, let’s say, Tukaram, is appointed to do a certain job. When he performs his duties with complete honesty and dedication, people find it surprising that he starts going viral. Have you realized this? This simply means that when someone is performing their duty with complete honesty, he becomes a celebrity. And that itself tells us where we, as a society, have reached.”
