National Award‑winning actress Parvathy Thiruvothu is set to take on a role that marks a first in her two‑decade career: that of a police officer. In the upcoming Malayalam thriller Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar, she will portray Aleena Abraham, a woman constable whose life spirals into a tense investigation at a police station. The film, directed by Shahad, centers on a murder case that throws suspicion and intrigue into the mix, placing Aleena at the story’s core.
Earlier this month, the first look of Parvathy in a police constable’s uniform was released. The image shows her in a composed yet striking avatar, hinting at the seriousness of the character she will embody. Speaking about stepping into the role, Parvathy said, “Every character brings with it a certain responsibility, and Aleena was particularly interesting to me because of the world she inhabits and the choices she has to make within it. This is my first time playing a police officer, so even the process of stepping into the uniform and understanding what it means to occupy that space was new for me. But more than the uniform, I was interested in Aleena as a woman – her vulnerabilities, her sense of duty, and the way she responds when the situation around her begins to change. Many things keep going out of control but she cannot afford to give up. I think there is a lot that is left unsaid about her, and that was exciting for me as an actor. I’m curious to see how audiences interpret Aleena and her journey.”
Parvathy’s foray into a cop’s role is not entirely new. She has lent her voice to a character played by Kareena Kapoor Khan in the film Daayra Anjooni, where Kareena also portrays a police officer. The contrast between the two portrayals—one voiced, one lived—offers a fresh perspective on women in uniform, adding an intriguing layer to her work.
Beyond Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar, the actress has a busy schedule ahead. She is slated to appear in the film HRX and will also feature in Amazon’s upcoming series Storm, further expanding her diverse portfolio.
