The 29‑year‑old, best known for his portrayal of gangster Uzair Baloch in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar series, will play one of Khan’s friends in the film. Pandor’s rise to prominence came after Dhurandhar, which earned him widespread recognition across India. The success of the Ranveer Singh‑starrer has opened a string of high‑profile offers for him, and Lalkaara is believed to be the first major project he has signed since then.
While the cast list is still being finalized, Sidhant Gupta has already been confirmed in a leading role alongside Khan. Sources close to the production clarified that Vikrant Massey, who was earlier rumored to be in talks, is not part of the film. The trio – Khan, Gupta and Pandor – are currently undergoing intensive cricket training and physical conditioning to convincingly portray real‑life figures. Khan will portray Lala Amarnath, the first captain of independent India’s national team, while the exact details of the other characters remain under wraps.
Lalkaara is billed as an ambitious sports saga based on the historic 1952 India‑Pakistan Test series. It marks the reunion of Khan and Gowariker, who first collaborated on the 2001 classic Lagaan. The screenplay, written by Piyush Gupta (Dangal, Chhichhore) and Neeraj Singh (Nil Battey Sannata), promises to explore friendship, rivalry and national pride against the backdrop of one of cricket’s most significant chapters.
The film is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment in association with Rajkumar Hirani Films. Principal photography is slated to begin in November 2026. With a star‑studded cast and a historic storyline, Lalkaara is shaping up to be a major event in the 2026 Bollywood calendar.
