Toxic’s OTT future in limbo; deals still on the table

The Yash‑starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown‑Ups may not have matched the box‑office expectations set for a film of its scale, but its fate beyond the theatres is still undecided. Industry insiders say talks with several streaming platforms are underway, as the makers weigh their options for a digital release.

According to a source close to the negotiations, “conversations are happening with streaming platforms, but nothing has been locked yet. The figures being discussed or reported at the moment should not be treated as the final deal value.” The film’s team is reportedly evaluating offers to determine what makes the most sense for the movie.

“Toxic entered the market with considerable expectations,” the source added. Directed by Geetu Mohandas and featuring Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth, the film was positioned as a large‑scale theatrical event. Its box‑office run, however, fell short of the anticipated performance.

Earlier reports suggested that an initial OTT offer had been significantly higher, with some figures even putting a revised value at around ₹30 crore. Bollywood Hungama cautions that such numbers are speculative and should not be taken as a concluded deal.

The streaming market has become more cautious, with platforms now assessing theatrical performance, audience response and long‑term streaming value before committing large sums. For Toxic, the OTT chapter remains a work in progress, and the final deal will only become clear once negotiations are concluded.

In summary, while the film’s theatrical run may have altered the commercial conversation, the eventual streaming deal is still pending. Any specific figure currently circulating should be considered an unconfirmed industry estimate rather than a final OTT deal value.
