Prime Video’s latest push into the young‑adult genre culminated in a two‑day extravaganza in the Bavarian Alps, dubbed the Obsessed Retreat: Class of ’26. Held on September 7 and 8, the event brought together actors, writers and fans for an immersive experience that echoed the campus‑style vibes of the platform’s growing slate of non‑English language International Originals from Spain, France, Germany, Italy and India.
Among the attendees was Indian star Ananya Panday, who recently starred in the coming‑of‑age series Call Me Bae, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The show, which debuted in 2024, is set to return for a second season in the near future. Panday was photographed mingling with fellow international talent, including Damian Hardung of Maxton Hall, Ester Exposito from Drawn Together and Pau Simon of Perfectos Mentirosos. She shared the moments on her Instagram Stories, giving fans a glimpse of the cross‑cultural camaraderie that defines the retreat.
Prime Video’s VP and Head of International Originals, Nicole Clemens, highlighted the platform’s commitment to YA audiences. “We know that the audiences for our YA movies and series are shaping culture in real time — and they don’t just watch, they feel deeply, they obsess,” Clemens said. “What excites me most about this next wave is that it’s being led by non‑English language International Originals. These stories are rooted in local culture with universal appeal, and we believe they’ll break out globally in the same way.” The retreat also showcased first‑official images from the upcoming UK series Boys of Tommen, based on Irish author Chloe Walsh’s BookTok‑fueled bestseller, and other projects such as Campus Drivers and Perfect Liars.
Panday reflected on her character Bella from Call Me Bae in a statement, describing her as “just a girl who’s defined by her labels, who’s very lost, who’s either a trophy wife or a trophy daughter, and she kind of wants to step out of all of that and create something for herself.” She added that “realising why she is the way she is made me find the love in her heart.” The event underscored Prime Video’s ambition to elevate YA storytelling by blending local authenticity with global reach, promising fresh, diverse narratives for the next generation of viewers.
