Cinema VinesNetflix’s Emmy‑nominated anthology series Lust Stories returns for a third season, with a new two‑minute‑and‑nineteen‑second trailer dropping on Wednesday. The teaser showcases Aditi Rao Hydari’s character likening women to candles rather than light bulbs, a metaphor that “melts” instead of simply burning. The film is helmed by a quartet of directors—Vikramaditya Motwane, Kiran Rao, Shakun Batra and Vishal Bhardwaj—who each bring their own take on love, lust and desire to the ensemble cast.
The trailer highlights a star‑studded lineup that includes Radhika Apte, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditi Rao Hydari, Radhika Madan, Sana Thampi, Vijay Varma, Abhishek Banerjee, Siddharth, Ali Fazal and Gurfateh Pirzada. Their characters are shown navigating relationships and the complexities of desire, with scenes that range from playful banter—Konkona warning Apte to “be ready for fireworks” while reminding them they’re in Kandivali—to more serious moments such as Madan and Ali dealing with marital strain and Aditi and Siddharth exploring a different dynamic. Vikramaditya Motwane explained in a press release that he was drawn to the project because it offered a chance to examine how everyday comfort collides with the urge for something unexpected. He said the story allows him to explore that space “with warmth, humour and a little bit of unpredictability.” Kiran Rao echoed this sentiment, noting her interest in how initial sparks of attraction can quickly evolve into complex situations, and how those choices can lead to unforeseen consequences.
Shakun Batra described the most compelling relationships as those where characters are unsure of their feelings and struggle to make sense of them. He added that affection, insecurity, allure and frustration can coexist, creating “emotional ambiguity” that can be both dramatic and funny. Vishal Bhardwaj focused on desire’s deep connection to imagination and storytelling, and how the narrative follows a character who discovers her own voice, leading to humor, mischief, emotion and questions about identity and the right to tell stories about desire.
Lust Stories 3 is set to premiere on Netflix on September 18, offering audiences four intertwined tales that promise to explore the nuances of love, lust and the human longing that drives both.
