Fans ink Ali Fazal’s Guddu Pandit face; actor feels overwhelmed

Since the release of Mirzapur: The Movie, the character Guddu Pandit has become a cultural icon, and fans are taking their devotion a step further by getting the actor’s likeness inked on their skin. Ali Fazal, who portrays the charismatic protagonist, has expressed how humbled he feels by the outpouring of support, saying he is “extremely touched and overwhelmed” by the love Guddu Bhaiya continues to receive.

The film, which hit theaters on September 4, follows the story of the popular Prime Video series that debuted in 2019. It brings back key players such as Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya, and Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, while Jitendra Kumar steps in to replace Vikrant Massey as Guddu’s brother Bablu Pandit. The movie has already broken box‑office records and is slated to cross ₹200 crore worldwide later this week.

In the weeks since the film’s release, fans have shared images of tattoos featuring Guddu’s name and even a full portrait of Ali’s face. When Fazal saw the pictures, he described the reaction as “truly surreal,” noting how the fandom has grown over the years and now extends to permanent body art.

Mirzapur: The Movie is directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna. It is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, with Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani as co‑producers. The story centers on the struggle for the Mirzapur throne, introducing new contenders and featuring Ravi Kishan as the antagonist.

Ali Fazal added that Guddu “belongs to the audience as much as he belongs to me now,” and he expressed deep gratitude for the love and the film’s commercial success, which he says makes the journey even more special.
