Cinema VinesKareena Kapoor, now in her forties, has shifted her focus from blockbuster hits to projects that offer more artistic depth. Her upcoming thriller Daayra is a prime example of this new direction, and the film has already earned praise from both fans and industry insiders. However, Kapoor admitted in a recent interview that the same level of seriousness isn’t always shared at home.
During a conversation with Brut India, Kapoor was asked which family member gives her the most candid feedback. She named her sister Karisma and her husband Saif Ali Khan, noting that both are careful because everyone is sensitive about their work. Kapoor explained that when she tells Saif she doesn’t like a script, he often responds that she is “too hardcore.” She replies, “Go do it!” and stresses that they deliberately avoid stepping into each other’s creative space because, as actors, they naturally have strong opinions.
Kapoor also revealed that Saif had offered his thoughts on the film Daayra—specifically about the color of the poster—but she told him to keep quiet and let the director Meghna Gulzar know instead. “Saif was giving his take about the colour of the poster, and I said, ‘Listen, keep quiet! You message Meghna,’” she said.
In Daayra, Kapoor teams up with director Meghna Gulzar for the first time. The film, which is inspired by true events and co‑written by Gulzar, Yash Keswani, and Sima Agarwal, follows two police officers played by Kapoor and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Backed by Junglee Pictures and Dr. Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios, the movie is slated for a theatrical release on September 18, directly competing with Kunal Kemmu’s spy comedy Vibe, which also stars Preity Zinta and Sparsh Srivastava.
