A nearby paparazzo, who had been photographing him, stepped in and offered the exact amount he needed, saying, “Main deta hoon” (I will give). The actor later recalled the moment, noting that the photographer’s name was Sushil Mohite, though he admitted he could be mistaken.
After the exchange, Riteish snapped a photo with the photographer, then returned to his wife, Genelia D’Souza, to tell her about the kindness. Wanting to repay the man, he struggled to find a way to contact him. He eventually posted the incident on his Instagram Stories, hoping the paparazzo would see it and reach out. The post proved successful, and Riteish was able to locate Sushil Mohite and return the ₹100 he had lent.
Speaking about the experience, Riteish reflected on the often tense relationship between Bollywood stars and paparazzi. “It was the kindness that the paparazzo showed,” he said. “We always think that they are probably wanting our pictures and they are in need. But we don’t realise that there are moments when they step up to help you.”
In a related note, actress Taapsee Pannu, who has had a rocky history with photographers, recently defended her boundaries after being compared to Jaya Bachchan for her stance against paparazzi. Speaking to News18, she said, “My boundaries are very clear. And a woman with very clear boundaries is very intimidating. My sense of right and wrong is very clear in front of them and they don’t like that.”
Riteish’s recent film work includes a role in Dhamaal 4, while his off‑screen encounter with a helpful paparazzo serves as a reminder that even in the glare of the camera, moments of genuine human kindness can still emerge.
