Samantha Ruth Prabhu has announced that she and filmmaker Raj Nidimoru are expecting their first child, a revelation that came after the couple made their relationship official in December of last year. The actress, who has been open about her personal life, told THR India that she and Raj had previously agreed that they might or might not have children, and that the pregnancy has come as a surprise to both of them.
Prabhu explained that the news hit her on the first day she was shooting the song “Thassadiya.” She recalled feeling a bit ill at the time and, after learning she was pregnant, she had to adjust her schedule to accommodate the new reality. “I was having a little bit of sickness at that time. I guess everything just aligned. And now, I am truly excited,” she said, adding that she feels ready for the life‑changing experience of parenthood.
While filming the movie “Maa Inti Bangaaram,” which hit theatres in June, Prabhu’s pregnancy was kept discreet. Director Nandini Reddy revealed that the production had already wrapped most of the action sequences before the actress’s condition was known. “We were doing Thassadiya when I discovered that she was carrying,” Reddy said. She noted that the team took precautions to avoid strenuous work, scheduling breaks and avoiding intense sunlight as the shoot entered summer.
The couple’s relationship has been a topic of public interest since their collaboration on the film “Citadel: Honey Bunny,” released in 2024. Prabhu’s divorce from Naga Chaitanya in 2021 and Raj’s prior marriage to Shhyamali De have been subjects of speculation, but the couple confirmed their commitment to each other with a yogic ceremony at the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore in December 2025.
With a background that includes a Master’s degree in Journalism and over a decade of experience in print and digital media, Prabhu balances her career with her new role as a mother‑to‑be, expressing optimism about the upcoming changes and the joy of welcoming a child into her life.
