Cinema VinesOn Thursday, the Delhi High Court heard a case concerning the film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, which is said to be inspired by actor Salman Khan’s 1998 black‑buck poaching incident. The court recorded a statement from producer Amit Jani and his legal team before ruling that the film cannot be released in the state until it receives certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The decision comes after Khan filed a plea to stop the release of the movie in a pending personality‑rights suit against unnamed parties, and after the High Court ordered the removal of teaser links in July.
Advocate Parag Khandhar, part of Khan’s legal team, told reporters that the next hearing in the matter is scheduled for 30 September 2026. Until that date, the court has prohibited the film from being shown in theatres or on OTT platforms. The defendants have also been instructed to file a reply before the next hearing.
Producer Jani has described Kala Hiran as a film that explores the poaching incident and alleges connections between Salman Khan and underworld figures. With the CBFC certification still pending and the court’s order in place, the project remains stalled while the legal dispute continues.
