Samantha Ruth Prabhu revealed in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with myositis, an autoimmune disorder that attacks the muscles. The news came after the actress had taken a hiatus from acting to focus on her health and recovery. In a recent interview with THR India, she reflected on how the diagnosis left her feeling out of control and stripped her of a sense of identity.
She described the moment she first learned of her condition as a loss of confidence that had been carefully built through workouts and a strict routine. “Sickness doesn’t care how confident you look,” she said. “I felt such a loss of identity when that happened to me. I felt like I had no control.” She added that it took time for her to realize she could control her response to the illness, and that she no longer needed to fake confidence.
Prabhu said the experience taught her resilience, faith and hope—qualities she now considers essential. “These things are important qualities that sickness taught me. As a result, everything got better,” she explained. She admitted that while she would have preferred not to go through the ordeal, the lessons she learned have become invaluable to her life.
Beyond her health battle, the actress’s personal life has seen significant changes. She married Naga Chaitanya in 2017, divorced in 2021, and removed the surname “Akkineni” from her social media following the split. In 2023 rumours surfaced about a new relationship with Raj Nidimoru, a co‑producer she worked with on The Family Man Season 2 and Citadel: Honey Bunny. The two married in December 2025 at Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore and are expecting their first child.
Prabhu’s journey illustrates how a serious health challenge can reshape a public figure’s outlook, turning vulnerability into strength and redefining personal priorities. Her story continues to inspire fans who follow her career and personal growth.
