Dulquer Salmaan’s latest Malayalam venture, “I’m Game,” has struggled to find traction with audiences since its September 3 release, falling short of the ₹30 crore mark that many had hoped it would reach. The fantasy‑action thriller, directed by Nahas Hidhayath—known for “RDX”—follows protagonist Dan John, a gambling enthusiast who continually seeks higher stakes, setting off a chain of revenge and confrontation.
Despite a solid opening, the film’s momentum dissipated quickly. Saturday and Sunday earnings totaled ₹4.35 crore, but the first Monday saw a sharp decline to just ₹1.50 crore. Tuesday and Wednesday collections dropped further to ₹1.25 crore and ₹1.05 crore respectively. By day eight, the movie suffered a 52.4% slump, bringing in only ₹50 lakh on its second Thursday.
These figures have pushed the total India gross to ₹27.20 crore and the net to ₹23.30 crore. Although it has outperformed Dulquer’s earlier Malayalam release “King of Kotha” in domestic earnings, “I’m Game” remains far behind Nivin Pauly’s “Bethlehem Kudumba Unit,” which has netted approximately ₹133 crore in India.
The film features a strong supporting cast, including Antony Varghese, Kayadu Lohar, Mysskin, Samyuktha Viswanathan, and Vinay Forrt, with music composed by Jakes Bejoy. Produced by Dulquer and Jom Varghese under the Wayfarer Films banner, the project was originally slated for an Onam release but was postponed to early September.
While “I’m Game” has not resonated with viewers, the industry’s other releases continue to perform well. “Hanuman Ansh,” a biopic on Neem Karoli Baba, has maintained double‑digit earnings on its 35th day, indicating that the market still rewards films with strong storytelling and star power.
