Soori’s sports‑action drama Mandaadi opened in theatres on Thursday, September 10, pulling in a strong opening‑day performance. According to Sacnilk, the film collected ₹4.75 crore net in India and ₹5.55 crore gross, while overseas markets added another ₹1 crore, bringing the worldwide gross to ₹6.55 crore. The Tamil version dominated the domestic haul, earning ₹3.90 crore net from 2,177 shows with a 35% occupancy, whereas the Telugu version pulled in ₹85 lakh net from 776 shows at 26% occupancy, together accounting for the reported India net total of ₹4.75 crore.
The 2,953 shows that screened the film on its first day saw an overall occupancy of 32.6%. Mandaadi is written and directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, who previously helmed Selfie (2022). The story revolves around a traditional South Indian sailboat race, pitting the teams of Kaali and Saattaappuli against each other in a high‑stakes, action‑driven showdown.
Soori leads the cast, joined by Suhas in his Tamil debut and Mahima Nambiar. Supporting roles feature Sathyaraj, Mithun Jai Sankar, Ravindravjay, Bala Saravanan and Stun Siva. The film’s production was overseen by producer Elred Kumar under the RS Infotainment banner, with V. Manikandan as co‑producer.
G. V. Prakash Kumar composed the soundtrack, while S. R. Kathir ISC handled cinematography and Pradeep E. Ragav edited the film, assisted by A. Nishar Sharef. Production design was credited to D. R. K. Kiran. Action sequences were choreographed by Peter Hein, Dhilip Subbarayan and Mahesh Mathew. Dialogue was written by Ameer Jamal Khan and Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, with additional writing from Elred Kumar, R. Mohanavasanthan and Thiral Sankar.
As the film continues its run, Friday’s collections are still being tracked, but the first‑day numbers position Mandaadi as a solid performer in both domestic and overseas markets.
