Malhotra’s upcoming biopic on Meena Kumari, titled Kamal Aur Meena, has once again sparked buzz after reports surfaced that actors Saif Ali Khan and Triptii Dimri are in advanced talks to portray filmmaker Kamal Amrohi and the legendary actress Meena Kumari, respectively. The speculation has drawn attention from fans and the media alike, prompting the director to issue a statement urging calm and caution.
In a recent interview, Malhotra clarified that no casting decisions have been finalized and that the reports should not be treated as official. He thanked the audience for their enthusiasm but requested that the media refrain from spreading unverified rumors. “Absolutely touched and delighted by the love and interest around Kamal Aur Meena. But a humble request to the media: please stop the speculation and unconfirmed reports,” the director said.
Malhotra explained that the production team is still working on finalising the cast, studio partnership and other key details. He warned that premature speculation could potentially harm the film, the actors involved and the studios. “Unnecessary conjecture doesn't help the film, the actors or the studios involved,” he added.
The project, which chronicles the personal and professional relationship between Meena Kumari and Kamal Amrohi, has been in development for some time. Earlier rumors had linked Kiara Advani to the role of Meena Kumari before the current reports emerged. The director confirmed that a formal announcement will follow once all necessary agreements are in place.
While the pairing of Saif Ali Khan and Triptii Dimri has generated considerable interest given the stature of the real-life figures they would portray, the film’s official release of casting and production details remains pending. Fans are advised to await a formal announcement from the production team before drawing conclusions.
