Cinema VinesTusshar Kapoor, the son of veteran actor Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor, recently shared his reflections on the challenges and expectations that come with being born into a film family. Speaking to The Free Press Journal, he explained that while his lineage opened doors to his first break in the industry, it also subjected him to constant scrutiny and high expectations from both the press and audiences.
“When you are from a film family, an accomplished star’s son, there is always an expectation,” Kapoor said. “The glass is always considered half empty rather than half full, so you have to constantly surpass yourself.” He added that the initial phase of his career was difficult, as he had to navigate the noise that follows a star’s son and confront those who wanted to see him fail.
Kapoor likened his journey to an “Agneepath” – a path of fire and struggle – noting that while a film family can secure a first role, the responsibility of completing a project and ensuring its success lies entirely in the actor’s hands. “Getting your first film is easier when you’re from a film fraternity, but to bring that film to audiences and make it work at the box office is not in your hands,” he said.
Born to Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor, Tusshar made his Bollywood debut in 2001 with “Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai,” co‑starring Kareena Kapoor. He went on to appear in films such as “Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa,” “Jeena Sirf Merre Liye,” and “Kucch To Hai.” His breakthrough came with the 2006 comedy “Golmaal,” which launched a successful franchise and cemented his place in popular cinema. He is currently preparing for the upcoming “Golmaal 5.”
