Cinema VinesDuring a Mumbai launch event on Friday evening, actress‑producer Alia Bhatt unveiled the trailer for her Prime Video project Don’t Be Shy. The star was asked to discuss the concept of “ragebait” and, with a grin, recalled how her older sister Shaheen used to tease her in childhood. Shaheen would joke that Alia “came free with Parle‑G,” implying she was a free‑range child, a line that had stuck with Alia since she was four.
Alia laughed at the audience’s reaction before adding that the teasing was part of a broader sibling banter: “I wasn’t really my mom’s and my dad’s. I came free with Parle‑G,” she said, echoing the playful jabs from her sister. The comments highlighted the light‑hearted dynamic between the two sisters, even as they both navigate their own careers in Bollywood.
While the trailer launch was the main focus, Bhatt also took a nostalgic detour, reminiscing about her 2012 debut in Karan Johar’s Student of the Year, which also introduced Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. She noted that 14 years later, she is launching four debutantes—Aarushi Bajaj, Piyush Khati, Bianca Arora and Ansh Duggal—through Don’t Be Shy.
The film, directed by Shiv Rawail and produced by Yash Raj Films, will stream on Prime Video from September 25. Bhatt’s recent filmography includes the 2024 action movie Jigra (which she also produced), the YRF spy thriller Alpha, and the upcoming Sanjay Leela Bhansali project Love & War, where she will star opposite Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. She also has a sequel to Tumbbad lined up, with Sohum Shah, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and herself in the cast.
