Cinema VinesMirzapur: The Movie, the cinematic extension of the popular Amazon Prime series, has been a runaway hit since its release, smashing the ₹100‑crore mark in just four days and climbing to ₹165.39 crore by the end of its second week. The gangster drama, directed by Gurmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, follows the power struggle in the lawless city of Mirzapur, set in 2018 and expanding on the first season’s storyline.
The film opened on a Thursday with a record‑setting ₹25.75 crore, outpacing earlier hits such as Saiyaara and Awarapan 2. The momentum continued over the weekend, pulling in ₹32 crore on Friday and a staggering ₹36 crore on Saturday. Sunday saw a further boost, adding ₹36 crore to the tally, and the weekday dip on Monday was modest, with ₹15.50 crore. By the end of the first week, Mirzapur had amassed ₹148.45 crore.
In its second week, the movie maintained a steady performance. On the second Friday it earned ₹9.50 crore, and by 8 PM on Saturday it had collected an additional ₹7.44 crore, despite competition from the Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar starrer Haiwaan. The net domestic haul now stands at ₹165.39 crore.
The ensemble cast includes Ali Fazal reprising his role as Guddu Pandit, Pankaj Tripathi, and Divyenndu, with new additions Jitendra Kumar as Bablu Pandit, Ravi Kishan, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, and Shweta Tripathi returning from the series. The film is a joint venture between Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, and co‑produced by Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani.
