Renowned director Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) has just dropped a hint that he and filmmaker Mohit Suri will be teaming up again, sparking excitement among fans of the recent blockbuster romance Saiyaara. The teaser came via a selfie posted on RGV’s X account (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, where the two men are seen grinning beside each other. In the caption, RGV wrote, “Me and #Saiyaara‘s @mohit11481 for his NEXT film, are COOKING together a LOVE DISH full of GANGSTER CURRY … Details to be SERVED VERY VERY SOON,” accompanied by fire emojis. The playful wording has fans speculating whether the new film will blend romantic themes with gritty gangster elements.
Responses to the post were swift and enthusiastic. One user described the collaboration as “What a Collab,” while another joked about “Teekha aur meetha both flavours in movie now.” Comments ranged from “Highly awaiting Sir. Too exciting” to a tongue‑in‑cheek remark about Kallu Mama singing the song “Saiyaara Tu To Badla Nahi Hai.” Some even wondered if the duo was planning to produce a sequel to Gangster or a new entry in the Aashiqui series. The details of the project remain undisclosed, but the buzz is already building.
Mohit Suri, who recently achieved record‑breaking success with Saiyaara—the highest‑grossing Indian love story—has been in talks with Yash Raj Films to produce another intense romance featuring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. The untitled film is slated to start shooting this year and is expected for a 2027 release. It is unclear whether RGV will be involved in this venture or if the new collaboration with Suri will be a separate project.
In a separate interview with PTI, Suri recalled RGV’s comments during the re‑release of Satya, where the veteran director said, “We don’t make the film, sometimes the film makes us. They have a life of their own, we are just part of them.” Suri agreed, noting that he shares this perspective. The Saiyaara box office performance was impressive, earning ₹329.73 crore net domestically and ₹570.33 crore worldwide, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.
Beyond the Suri collaboration, RGV has several projects in the pipeline. He is currently filming a horror movie titled Police Station Mein Bhoot with Manoj Bajpayee, and rumors suggest Genelia D’Souza, Ramya Krishnan, and Rajpal Yadav may also join the cast. RGV is also working on Police Company featuring Harshvardhan Rane, Fardeen Khan, and Paresh Rawal, as well as a film called Syndicate following the success of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Additionally, RGV has announced a lead role in a forthcoming film titled Showman. All these projects indicate that both RGV and Suri are busy, but the anticipation for their joint venture remains high.
