After the 2007 finale of the popular daily soap Kasautii Zindagii Kay, actor Cezanne Khan chose a deliberate pause rather than immediately jumping into another serial. The role of Anurag Basu, which paired him with Shweta Tiwari, had cemented his place in the hearts of viewers who grew up watching early‑2000s television, and the name Anurag became almost synonymous with him. Instead of following the typical path of staying glued to the small screen, Khan took time to explore other avenues and to step away from the constant glare of fame.
During the years after the show, Khan appeared in a handful of Indian productions such as Ek Ladki Anjaani Si and Seeta Aur Geeta, but he also ventured beyond Indian borders. He worked in Pakistani dramas, including Piya Kay Ghar Jana Hai and Silsilay Chahat Ke. After a period of sporadic appearances, he took an extended break from acting in India altogether. He spent a significant amount of time in the United States, where he pursued business opportunities and enjoyed a life away from the relentless buzz of the entertainment industry.
Khan’s return to Indian television came in 2021 with the show Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, where he played Harman Singh, a character that had already been familiar to the audience. The comeback was welcomed by fans who had been eager to see him on screen after years of absence. In 2022 he followed up with Sony TV’s Appnapan – Badalte Rishton Ka Bandhan, starring opposite Rajshree Thakur. The drama tackled mature themes of relationships, marriage and parenthood, offering Khan a role that felt both challenging and personally engaging.
Unfortunately, Appnapan did not achieve the longevity the team had hoped for and concluded in November 2022, barely five months after its launch. Khan expressed disappointment at the early end, noting his strong connection to the character, yet he remained appreciative of the opportunity to be part of the project. Since then, he has largely stayed out of the public eye, limiting his social media presence to occasional posts on Facebook and Instagram rather than the constant reels and appearances that many contemporary actors maintain.
Today, Cezanne Khan continues to maintain a low profile, choosing to keep his personal and professional life away from the spotlight. While fans still remember him as the charismatic Anurag Basu, his quiet approach to career and media suggests a deliberate choice to prioritize privacy and selective projects over constant visibility.
