Hanuman Ansh defies ₹100‑crore OTT rumours; producer says no deal yet

Vishal Chaturvedi’s biographical film Hanuman Ansh, which follows the life of Neem Karoli Baba, opened in Indian theatres on 7 August. Although the first two weeks were quiet, word‑of‑mouth helped the picture climb the box‑office charts, turning it into a blockbuster. The film, starring Shobhinaw Satyaa as the titular hero, has already earned ₹192.13 crore net in India and ₹236.50 crore worldwide on a modest budget of about ₹2 crore.

Rumours have been swirling that the film has secured a ₹100‑crore deal with a streaming platform. Producer Ragini Sona, who is one of the film’s financiers, has publicly denied the claim. Speaking to NDTV she said, “It’s nothing like that. It’s all rumours. Please don’t pay attention to it. Today, how many people are watching the film matters. What offer we are getting or what offer the platform is giving, nobody cares about it. We want you guys to watch the film in theatres and praise it and love it. The audience is spreading the word. I have never seen anything like this. It’s Neem Karoli Baba’s magic.” She added that no OTT deal has been finalised and that any decision would be made collectively by the team.

Despite the hype, the film’s release schedule remains focused on the big screen. The producers have urged viewers to enjoy the movie in theatres before any potential digital launch. “Whatever we decide, we will discuss it within the team and take a call. You’ll get to know this soon. Watch the film in theatres because even we don’t know when the film will come on OTT,” Sona told the media.

After a worldwide release on 11 September from Homale Films, Hanuman Ansh has faced stiff competition from titles such as Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2, which initially reduced its screen count. However, the film’s fresh overseas rollout and the saint’s broad appeal—citing devotees like Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Julia Roberts—have kept audiences engaged.

Behind the scenes, Neeshita Nyayapati, a seasoned journalist with a Master’s in Journalism and a decade of experience at The Times of India and Reader’s Digest, serves as the film’s Chief Content Producer. A lifelong movie lover, Nyayapati believes that nothing compares to the experience of watching a film that moves you, popcorn in hand. She continues to champion cinema as a source of inspiration and joy.
