Despite a modest opening that brought in just ₹10 lakh on its first day, the Hindi spiritual drama Hanuman Ansh has steadily climbed the box‑office charts, buoyed by positive word‑of‑mouth. By the end of its first fortnight the film had amassed ₹1.48 crore net, and from the sixteenth day onward it saw a sharp uptick in collections, eventually setting new records in its third, fourth and fifth weeks. The movie’s domestic haul now stands at ₹205 crore, making it the smallest Indian film to cross the ₹200 crore mark worldwide.
Although the film has fared well against competitors such as Mirzapur The Movie, Haiwaan and Toxic, it will not be India's official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the Oscars this year. Producer Namrata Singh explained that the team missed the September 7 submission deadline because they were unaware of the process and were overwhelmed by other commitments. “We have only dubbed it in Telugu. I am just not getting the time (laughs)! We missed the Oscar submission deadline yesterday as it was the last day,” Singh said to Bollywood Hungama.
Singh added that the film’s Telugu version was completed first and that work on other languages is still underway. The production team is also focusing on making the movie more accessible to viewers with different needs, including plans for additional dubbing and accessibility features. “We are working on accessibility so that people of different abilities can see the film,” she added.
Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh is a spiritual drama inspired by the life and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, popularly known as Maharaj‑ji. While the film has yet to release overseas, its domestic success has surprised many, and the team remains optimistic about expanding its reach in the coming months.
