Mirzapur The Movie breaks box‑office records; hits ₹180 cr in 10 days

Mirzapur: The Movie has shattered expectations and is now the highest‑grossing Indian film of the year, crossing the ₹180 crore mark in just ten days. The action‑drama, a spin‑off of the hit Amazon Prime series, has proven that the world of Mirzapur can translate the on‑screen violence and intrigue into a blockbuster on the big screen.

The film opened on a Tuesday, drawing a staggering ₹25.75 crore on day one, well above the trade’s projected ₹18–20 crore. By the end of the first week, the total collection stood at ₹148.45 crore, a figure that eclipsed the earnings of earlier releases such as Saiyaara and Awarapan 2. Sunday’s haul of ₹36 crore was the highest single‑day take yet, showcasing the film’s strong hold through the first weekend.

Despite the fierce competition, Mirzapur: The Movie maintained momentum into its second week. On the second Saturday, it collected another ₹13.5 crore, and by 6 PM on day ten the cumulative gross had reached ₹179.49 crore. The Telugu‑dubbed version added to the tally, but the bulk of revenue came from the original Hindi release.

The movie brings back the familiar characters of the series—Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, and Jitendra Kumar—while introducing new faces such as Ravi Kishan and Sonal Chauhan. Set in 2018, the story explores an untold chapter from the first season, continuing the battle for power in the lawless city of Mirzapur.

Produced by Excel Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios, the film is directed by Gurmeet Singh, written by Puneet Krishna, and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. Co‑production credits go to Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani. The movie’s success underscores the growing influence of OTT franchises transitioning to mainstream cinema, and it cements Mirzapur’s status as one of India’s most popular streaming series.
