In response, host Salman Khan took to the popular segment “Weekend Ka Vaar” to address the complaints and explain the selection process.
During the interview with Amrapali Dubey, Salman asked whether the audience felt anything was missing from the house. Amrapali denied any gaps, prompting the star to admit that “we thought we would carefully select the contestants, but sometimes there are shortcomings in our selection.” He added that the show aims to bring a few “kameena” (troublesome) personalities into the house to keep the drama alive, acknowledging that a perfect lineup is impossible.
Salman also reminded the contestants that hosting them is a privilege and that their prayers, contributions, rule violations, emotions, tasks, and even profanity all play a part in making the show exciting. He joked that “you will definitely make me proud” if they keep the drama alive. The comments were aimed at reassuring both the participants and the audience that the show will deliver entertainment despite the mixed reception.
The season’s cast includes a blend of actors such as Mahhi Vij, Aasif Khan, Aman Gandhi, and Amrapali Dubey; singers Qazi Touqeer, Rhiti Tiwari, and Yung DSA; YouTuber ScoutOP; content creator Arishfa Khan; and sports icon Mary Kom. Though the lineup was initially met with lukewarm responses, the first week of the show has kept viewers glued to their screens.
Bigg Boss 20 follows a unique format where contestants have two lives to survive nominations. In a recent episode, actor Uditi Singh lost one life after receiving the fewest audience votes, while Kanika Mann lost her “vardaan” (bonus life) after the house captain Yung DSA revoked it.
