After the unexpected box‑office success of Haunted – Echoes Of The Past, director Vikram Bhatt and producer Anand Pandit confirmed they would collaborate again on a new horror venture, 1920: Cold Winter. The project was announced a few weeks after the film’s release, and by July 2026, Ahan Shetty had been signed on to star in the thriller.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, a source revealed that Anya Singh has joined the cast as the female lead. The actress, who rose to prominence with The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, is set to make her first foray into horror cinema. The makers praised her “screen presence and talent,” believing she would be perfect for the role. Anya expressed excitement, noting that she has never tackled a horror role in Bollywood before.
Both Anya Singh and Ahan Shetty previously shared the screen in the war blockbuster Border 2. She played Sudha Rawat, the wife of Lt. Cdr. Mahendra Singh Rawat, portrayed by Shetty. 1920: Cold Winter will therefore be the second film in which the pair play opposite each other.
The production is slated to begin shooting in November of this year. 1920: Cold Winter will be the sixth entry in the 1920 franchise, which started in 2008 with the original film featuring Adah Sharma and Rajnish Kumar. The series has seen mixed fortunes: the 2012 sequel 1920: Evil Returns, directed by Bhushan Patel, was a semi‑hit, while 1920 London (2016) and 1921 (2018) underperformed or performed only averagely. 1920: Horrors Of The Heart (2023), also directed by Bhatt and produced with Anand Pandit, saw decent box‑office returns.
With a fresh cast and a proven director at the helm, 1920: Cold Winter aims to revive the franchise’s legacy and deliver a chilling experience for horror fans.
