Cinema VinesIn a sharp rebuke, composer Amaal Mallik has publicly demanded recognition for his work on the 2015 film “Hero,” after the movie’s production team failed to credit him and lyricist Kumaar for the title track “Main Hoon Hero Tera.” Mallik’s complaint came after Salman Khan Films celebrated the film’s 11th anniversary with a social‑media post featuring Khan performing the song, a gesture that left the composer and lyricist unmentioned.
“Whoever is handling the social media of @skfilmsofficial, I love the audacity you have shown by leaving out the composer and the lyricist of the song… The song that is created with the pain, blood, sweat and tears of a music composer and his lyricist, and is celebrated without the creators being respected or even mentioned… Learn to do the basics… Don’t delete my comment, let Salman sir check it also,” Mallik wrote in a comment on the banner’s post. He followed up with an Instagram story on Sunday, stating that the fight for proper credits in the music industry has been ongoing for decades and that artists still frequently go uncredited.
“Who wants to keep this drama and get into controversies? I have to do it because no one else talks on time, and this fight has been on for over four‑five decades! It has always been for music and credits,” he added. Mallik clarified that his remarks were aimed at the banner’s public relations team, not at Salman Khan personally.
The film, directed by Nikkhil Advani and starring Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty, is a remake of Subhash Ghai’s 1983 classic. While the original starred Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi, the newer version received mixed reviews and grossed ₹50 crore worldwide.
