Qazi Touqeer hails Arijit Singh as his ‘life’; praises his relentless work ethic

In a recent episode of Bigg Boss 20, Kashmiri singer Qazi Touqeer took the opportunity to sing a heartfelt tribute to his long‑time friend and fellow musician Arijit Singh. The host‑turned‑contestant, who first burst onto the national scene in 2005 by winning the reality show Fame Gurukul, used the platform to describe Arijit as a “life” and praised the singer’s relentless work ethic.

Qazi spoke about Arijit’s extraordinary stamina and passion, noting that the playback legend can work for eight hours straight without showing fatigue. He added that once Arijit starts a song, he loses track of time, staying fully absorbed for six to seven hours. “He doesn’t get tired for 8 hours,” Qazi said, “he sits down with his sitar. As soon as he starts, he gets completely lost and loses track of time. Six, seven hours constantly. He’s completely engrossed in the same thing.” Qazi also highlighted Arijit’s love for the creative process and how the singer’s dedication to music inspires him.

The admiration was mutual. Earlier on the show, Arijit took to X (formerly Twitter) and announced that he would watch Bigg Boss for the first time in his life because Qazi was in the house. “I will have to watch BIG BOSS for the first time in my life because Apna Rockstar QAZI is udhar,” Arijit wrote, a comment that sent fans into a frenzy.

Qazi’s own stint on Bigg Boss has been marked by a mix of playful pranks, bold claims of being a commando, and a charismatic presence that has kept viewers hooked. On the Weekend Ka Vaar, Bollywood star Salman Khan praised the singer, saying, “There may be many stars in this house, but there’s only one rockstar, and that’s Qazi Touqeer. All week, you have been walking around going ‘Owww!’ Teach me too: ‘I am a rockstar, baby.’” The show, which airs on JioHotstar and Colors TV, has made Qazi a fan favourite once again.

While Qazi celebrates his friendship with Arijit, the singer himself has recently retired from playback singing as of January this year, leaving fans heartbroken. Nonetheless, his previously recorded songs continue to be released, including the recent track “Jai Jai Ram” from Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, composed by AR Rahman and sung alongside Shreya Ghoshal. The duo’s continued collaboration keeps Arijit’s music alive for listeners worldwide.
