Kangana Ranaut fires back at Rakhi Sawant; calls her remarks a character assassination

Bollywood actress and BJP Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has fired back at fellow star Rakhi Sawant after the latter made a series of controversial remarks about Ranaut, actor‑politician Smriti Irani and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a scathing response posted to her Instagram Stories, Ranaut accused Sawant of “character lynching” successful women, claiming that “most unsuccessful and bitter people are quick to character lynch successful women to satisfy and justify their jealousy, envy, failures and ego.” She urged the public to stop allowing such attacks and to stop feeling humiliated by them.

Ranaut went on to say that people who are “ready to do everything for success” are still “unnecessary” and that their “favors” have never earned them even a “sweeper’s job.” She added that fans should simply watch her reels and “keep crying,” implying that Sawant’s criticism was baseless and self‑serving. The actress has previously taken a hard line against Sawant, who had called Ranaut a “gutter mouth” in a video that criticised the Cockroach Janta Party protest in Delhi.

In her earlier retort, Ranaut dismissed comments from a range of critics, from Ashutosh Rana and Sonu Sood to Taapsee Pannu, arguing that only those who have achieved more than her should be allowed to speak about her. She stated, “If you haven’t achieved even 1% of my success then I am not interested in hearing your opinions on me.” The actress also warned that “hungry people” who want to latch onto the media will not be listened to, and that only those who are more successful than she is will be considered.

Meanwhile, Rakhi Sawant has been in the spotlight again after appearing on Samay Raina’s “India’s Got Latent” episode with entrepreneur Ashneer Grover, comedian Kushagra Srivastava and The Habitat owner Balraj Ghai. Sawant’s recent comments, which also mentioned Smriti Irani and Narendra Modi, sparked backlash on social media and prompted Ranaut’s fiery Instagram post. Kangana’s latest film, “Bharat Bhagya Vidhata,” has also been a focal point of her recent public appearances.

The incident underscores the ongoing tension between Bollywood personalities and the intense scrutiny they face from both the media and their audiences. Ranaut’s blunt criticism of Sawant highlights the broader debate over how public figures are judged and the role of jealousy and envy in shaping public discourse.
