Gaurav Khanna quits Khatron Ke Khiladi 15; health takes priority

Gaurav Khanna, the actor known for his roles on HT's On The Go, stunned his fan base by announcing his departure from Khatron Ke Khiladi 15 after winning the elimination task that had brought him back as a wild‑card contestant. The decision came during a vlog he posted from Cape Town, where he explained that he could not risk further injury to his right elbow, which has been a persistent source of pain.

Khanna had originally been eliminated early in the season but was invited back as a wildcard. He had already endured an elbow injury during the show, recovered with medication, and then felt the pain flare up again when a new stunt involving electrocution was introduced. He stated, “I won my stunt but I thought that I don't want to continue because if any new stunt involves electrocution then it will trigger my elbow pain excruciatingly. Then I will not have the full power in my right elbow. That is really painful.” The actor added that the decision to leave felt “more painful” than the injury itself.

During the episode in which he exited, Khanna broke down in tears and apologized to his fellow contestants and to host Rohit Shetty. He even hugged Rohit and touched his feet before leaving the set. Ruhaanika Dhawan tried to persuade him to stay, but Khanna was firm that he could not give his all while his elbow was still healing.

The season, themed “Old vs New: Darr Ka Naya Daur,” featured returning stars such as Rubina Dilaik, Rithvik Dhanjani, Vishal, Karan Wahi and Jasmin Bhasin, alongside new faces like Avinash Mishra, Farrhana Bhatt, Orry, and Ruhaanika Dhawan. After the team format dissolved, contestants competed individually for a spot in the finale, which aired on September 13. Fans now speculate that either Mishra or Bhatt may have taken the trophy.

Khanna’s choice underscores the physical demands of stunt reality shows and the importance of prioritizing long‑term health over short‑term glory. While he expressed regret for leaving at a crucial moment, he emphasized that his recovery had to come first. The actor concluded, “I am packing now, it has been a lovely experience. I could have gone forward but I didn't want to take more on my recovery phase. I have also been requested to travel safely.”
