Cinema VinesBollywood star Govinda made a late‑night return from the United States to join his family for the traditional Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai. The actor, who had been abroad, arrived after dark and immediately headed to the house, where his wife Sunita Ahuja and their two children, Tina and Yashvardhan, were already preparing for the evening’s rituals.
Govinda took part in the Ganpati darshan, offering prayers and seeking blessings for his son and daughter. He spoke to ANI about the family’s long‑standing custom, saying, “This is a tradition in our house from my mother. I’ve been doing this for years, and now Yash is doing it.” He expressed his hopes for Yash’s future, wishing him “success and prosperity” and even dreaming that his son might one day eclipse his own fame. For Tina, he prayed for a “good home and family.”
While Govinda posed with his kids for the media, Sunita chose not to join the family photo. Earlier, she had welcomed the Ganesha idol into their home with enthusiasm, noting that this year she had taken the initiative to bring the deity herself. “I brought Ganpati home this time with a lot of singing and dancing – usually Govinda ji or Yashvardhan bring him,” she told ANI, adding that the idol had brought her “so much fame” in the past year.
Sunita also mentioned that Govinda’s late arrival was expected, as he was still traveling from America. She said, “Govinda ji is in America; he’ll come back at night. If he is tired, he won’t come for darshan today and instead will come tomorrow. This is his house, so he has to come.” The couple’s devotion to the festival and their efforts to keep the tradition alive were evident throughout the evening.
