Diljit Dosanjh hails Govinda as a legendary icon; vows to team up in future film

During a lively Instagram Live session, Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh shared his admiration for Bollywood legend Govinda, expressing a keen desire to collaborate with the veteran actor in a future film. The star, who is currently touring with his Aura World Tour, took the opportunity to thank Govinda for his iconic comedic timing and for the joy his films once brought to audiences.

Dosanjh, who will soon perform in Ahmedabad, used the platform to sing Govinda’s hit “Kem Chhe” from the film *Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai*. He praised Govinda as an unparalleled artiste, saying, “There has never been an artiste like Govinda in Bollywood, nor will there ever be one.” The singer highlighted Govinda’s legendary partnership with director David Dhawan, recalling classics such as *Partner*, *Coolie No. 1*, *Raja Babu*, *Bade Miyan Chote Miyan*, *Jodi No. 1*, *Aankhen*, and *Saajan Chale Sasural*. He noted that after 2007’s *Partner*, the duo had not worked together again, and that Govinda’s last film, *Rangeela Raja* (2019), failed to impress audiences.

Govinda is set to return to the silver screen with the comedy‑drama *Roopa*, which he is producing and will star opposite newcomer Rani Swarnkar. Dosanjh’s tribute underscored the enduring impact of Govinda’s work, contrasting the past “happiness” of his films with the current climate of competition and box‑office pressure.

In addition to the Instagram segment, Dosanjh recently made history by headlining Wembley Stadium in London, becoming the first Punjabi artist to perform to a 90,000‑strong crowd. He also mentioned the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, noting that Coldplay’s sell‑out concert there was a remarkable achievement for India’s largest venue.
