Cinema VinesThe Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has opened a fresh inquiry into the 2020 death of celebrity manager Disha Salian after a new first information report (FIR) was filed at its Bandra‑Kurla Complex office in Mumbai. The FIR was prompted by a detailed statement from Salian’s father, Satish Salian, and follows a High Court order directing the agency to investigate the case. The report names several high‑profile individuals, including Sooraj Pancholi, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, Rohan Roy, Rhea Chakraborty and others, for scrutiny.
Salian’s death on 8 June 2020, a day before actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead, was initially recorded as an accidental death. Six years later, the CBI registered the FIR, listing the aforementioned personalities whose roles in the incident are now under investigation. The case has drawn attention because it echoes earlier controversies surrounding the 2013 suicide of actress Jiah Khan, whose mother Rabya Khan has been vocal about evidence mishandling in that case.
Rabya Khan reacted to the inclusion of Sooraj Pancholi in the Disha Salian FIR by posting a long note on her Instagram Stories. She expressed deep sadness, noting that the same names have surfaced in another young woman’s death six years after Jiah Khan’s. Khan warned that “crucial evidence were all destroyed and replaced to fool the victims,” and that once evidence is lost, the truth becomes harder to discover. She criticised the High Court’s recognition of serious discrepancies in Disha’s investigation, arguing that the lack of evidence hampers any fresh probe and that the same flawed methods used in Jiah Khan’s case are being repeated.
In her message, Khan urged investigators to preserve and examine every piece of potentially relevant evidence, warning that allowing it to disappear could prevent future investigations from uncovering the truth. She concluded that “Disha deserves the truth, just as Jiah did,” calling for accountability and thoroughness in the new probe.
The FIR lists several individuals—Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty, Sooraj Pancholi, Dino Morea, Rohan Roy, among others—as subjects of investigation. The case is now under the scrutiny of the CBI, with the Bombay High Court’s directive serving as the catalyst for this renewed inquiry into Disha Salian’s death.
