On a quiet Sunday in Chennai, Tamil‑film superstar Suriya and his wife Jyotika marked two decades of marriage with a heartfelt vow‑renewal ceremony held in a church. The intimate event was attended by close family members and friends, and the couple shared the occasion on social media, posting photos and videos that captured the emotion of the day.
Inside the church, Jyotika arrived in a white bridal gown, and Suriya’s reaction was visibly tearful as he welcomed her. The couple exchanged vows in front of their loved ones, reaffirming their commitment to one another. The ceremony was punctuated by moments of joy, such as Karthi, Suriya’s brother, helping him in a candid snapshot, and friends showering the newly renewed couple with flower petals as they exited the sanctuary.
Jyotika took to Instagram to share a lengthy, heartfelt note about the significance of the renewal. She described the event as a celebration of their “imperfections, adjustments, understanding, sacrifices, and self‑less love.” In her post, she listed personal vows, including being a happy person, celebrating life, never complaining, being thankful, staying healthy, and remaining the best mother and wife. She emphasized the importance of friendship within marriage, calling Suriya her equal, confidant, gossip partner and best friend.
The couple’s journey began on the sets of the 1999 Tamil film Poovellam Kettuppar, where they first met and later started dating. They officially tied the knot on September 11, 2006, in Chennai, and the vow‑renewal ceremony now marks twenty years of partnership and parenthood.
