Cinema VinesOn Tuesday, September 15, the Tamil spy action thriller Sardar 2 saw a steep drop in its domestic earnings, pulling in just ₹0.54 crore net on its sixth day in India. The drop translates to a 64% decline from the ₹1.50 crore net collected the day before, and it marks the lowest single‑day figure the film has posted during its first week of release.
Since its opening on September 10, the sequel has accumulated a cumulative net of ₹13.64 crore in India, with a gross of ₹15.97 crore. The film’s opening day net of ₹4.50 crore remains its highest single‑day domestic haul. After the first three days, the film earned ₹2.45 crore on Friday, ₹2.20 crore on Saturday and ₹2.45 crore on Sunday, before falling to ₹1.50 crore on Monday and dropping below the ₹1 crore mark on Tuesday.
On the day in question, the Tamil version of the film collected ₹0.38 crore net from 1,430 shows, achieving a 14% occupancy rate, while the Telugu version added ₹0.16 crore net from 830 shows, with a 15% occupancy. Across 2,260 shows, the overall occupancy stood at 14.4%.
Internationally, Sardar 2 has earned ₹4.50 crore in overseas markets. Adding this to the domestic gross brings the worldwide total to ₹20.47 crore after six days of theatrical run. The next day, September 16, will be Day 7 of the film’s run, with collections still pending.
The film is directed by P. S. Mithran and is the sequel to the 2022 Tamil hit Sardar. It stars Karthi in a dual role, with Rajisha Vijayan reprising her character from the first film. Supporting roles include S. J. Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, Yogi Babu and others. Production is handled by Prince Pictures and IVY Entertainment, with co‑producer A. Venkatesh. Sam C. S. composed the music and background score, marking his 100th film as a composer, while OfRo contributed additional music. Technical credits feature George C.
