Rashmika Mandanna back on set; Karan Mehta joins Allu Arjun’s Raaka

Rashmika Mandanna has returned to the film set after a medical hiatus caused by a severe right hip tendon detachment sustained during a dance sequence for Mysaa. The Pan‑India actress, who was originally slated to begin shooting in August, resumed work on the set of Allu Arjun and Atlee’s upcoming blockbuster Raaka in Mumbai yesterday. She is currently filming a brief stint, with her full‑scale scenes scheduled to start next month.

Allu Arjun and Rashmika are set to perform several key action sequences together, marking their second collaboration following the massive success of the Pushpa franchise. The film is described as a large‑scale fantasy actioner set in a parallel universe, and it boasts a star‑studded ensemble that includes Deepika Padukone, Mrunal Thakur, Janhvi Kapoor, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Jim Sarbh.

In addition to the established cast, Bollywood Hungama reports that Karan Mehta has joined the production. The actor, who made his Bollywood debut in Anurag Kashyap’s 2023 musical romantic drama Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat and previously assisted on Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees, is set to play a key role in Raaka and has already begun shooting.

Rumors that Aishwarya Lekshmi would be part of the film have been debunked by reliable sources. The project, produced by Sun Pictures, is anticipated for its dual significance: it is Allu Arjun’s first post‑Pushpa venture and his inaugural collaboration with director Atlee, who recently achieved global success with Jawan.

Production is expected to wrap up by the first quarter of 2027, with a theatrical release slated for late 2027. The film’s high‑profile cast and the directors’ track records have generated considerable buzz, positioning Raaka as one of the most awaited releases of the year.
