Kapil Sharma’s long‑running comedy talk show, The Great Indian Kapil Show, is set to return to Netflix with its fifth season, slated for a September 26 launch. The comedian revealed the news on Instagram, sharing a promotional clip that teased the new season as a “festival of comedy.” The clip featured Sharma alongside regulars Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Archana Puran Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu, all appearing in a musical montage that read, “Dhol, nagaada sab bajega, kyunki Hansi Ka Tyohaar ab Netflix pe sajega!” The announcement also highlighted that fresh episodes will drop every Saturday at 8 p.m. local time.
In his Instagram post, Sharma reflected on the show’s journey, saying, “Every season, we think we have done enough masti (fun), and then we realise that we are not done yet! And somewhere I feel that’s what keeps us going.” He thanked viewers worldwide for their support and hinted that the upcoming season would celebrate festivals such as Diwali and Christmas. A light‑hearted quip followed: “Bas lifafe Archana ji se duur rakhiye, baki hum Hasi ka Tyohaar to le kar aa hi rahe hain!”
Netflix’s Tanya Bami, Series Head, praised the program’s unique niche as a family entertainer. She noted that the show has carved out a distinct space within the platform’s comedy slate, offering a mix of celebrity conversations, sketches, banter, playful roasting and spontaneous moments. Bami added, “This season is all about ‘har type ka funny,’ with Kapil truly living up to his title as the comedy king.”
The fourth season concluded on March 14, and within months, Sharma had already confirmed the new series. Fans can expect the familiar format of celebrity guests, newsmakers and personalities from diverse walks of life, all wrapped in Sharma’s trademark humor. The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 5 will be available exclusively on Netflix from September 26, with new episodes airing every Saturday at 8 p.m.
