Prime Video’s hit drama Matka King is set to return for a second season, with actor Vijay Varma confirming the news on social media. The announcement ended speculation after Varma had posted a cryptic image the day before, which many fans linked to a new project. In a follow‑up post, the actor shared a selfie taken in the production office, standing in front of the Matka King poster, and added the caption, “At the office for…”. He then revealed the script for the first episode of the new season, titled Season 2 x Episode 1: Ek Aur Baazi, written by Abhay Koranne.
Varma’s post included the line “Ek aur baazi ;)” as the show’s theme music played in the background, signalling that the high‑stakes gambling story will continue. The actor will reprise his role as Brij Bhatti, the central figure of the original series that followed the character’s rise in the matka gambling scene of 1950s Bombay. Varma’s portrayal required a physical transformation and a period‑specific look, a detail he highlighted in earlier interviews.
While the plot of Season 2 remains undisclosed, the episode title suggests a continuation of the risky world established in the first season. Production is already underway, and Varma’s return marks the first time the character of Brij Bhatti will be seen again. The series, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video India, has received critical acclaim, with Varma winning Best Performance at the 2026 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
Fans can look forward to the new season’s premiere on Prime Video, where the drama’s blend of historical context and contemporary storytelling is expected to draw viewers once more. The official release date has not yet been announced, but production updates indicate that the team is moving swiftly to bring the next chapter of Matka King to audiences.
