The 61‑year‑old posted a cheerful caption, “Back home,” accompanied by laughing emojis, while also sharing a photo of herself in a hospital gown with a nasal cannula taped to her cheek. The post left fans concerned, as Shanthi did not disclose the reason for her admission or the length of her stay.
Shanthi’s two sons, Meghamsh Srihari (26) and Shashank Srihari, have been active on social media, celebrating Meghamsh’s birthday and sharing other personal moments, but neither has commented on their mother’s health. Fans flooded the post with messages of support, urging her to recover quickly and thanking her for her resilience. One comment read, “Mum god bless you, u dont worry god with us,” while another wished her a full and healthy return home.
Born Santha Kumari in 1965 to Tamil actor C.L. Anandan, Shanthi debuted in the 1983 Tamil film Vasanthame Varuga and went on to appear in hundreds of films across Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Odia cinema. Her memorable numbers include “Othadi Othadi” from Rajinikanth’s Dharmathin Thalaivan (1988), “Bangaru Kodi Petta” from Chiranjeevi’s Gharana Mogudu (1992), and “Dingora Dingora” from Aadmi (1993).
In 1996, Shanthi married Telugu actor Srihari and stepped away from films. The couple had two sons and a daughter, Akshara, who tragically passed away at four months old. They later established a foundation in her memory to support children's education. Srihari himself suffered a liver ailment and died in 2013 while filming a project. Shanthi has since been linked to a potential comeback in Raghava Lawrence’s delayed film Bullet.
