Cinema VinesKarthi’s Tamil spy thriller Sardar 2 has seen its theatrical run slow to a crawl, with the film earning a modest ₹66 lakh on Wednesday, September 16, according to Sacnilk. The release, which opened on September 10, has struggled to match its opening‑day takings, and the Day 7 figure is 12% lower than the ₹75 lakh net collection reported on Day 6.
By the end of its first week, Sardar 2 has accumulated ₹14.51 crore in India net, while its total gross in the domestic market stands at ₹16.99 crore. Overseas earnings have reached ₹4.65 crore, bringing the worldwide gross to ₹21.64 crore.
The film opened with a strong ₹4.50 crore net on September 10, but the momentum faded quickly: Day 2 saw ₹2.45 crore, Day 3 ₹2.20 crore, and the weekend totals were ₹2.45 crore on Sunday. Weekday collections dipped further, with Monday’s ₹1.50 crore and Tuesday’s ₹75 lakh. Across 2,277 shows on Day 7, the overall occupancy was a low 14%.
Day 7 earnings were split between the Tamil and Telugu versions. The Tamil cut collected ₹42 lakh from 1,434 shows, while the Telugu version added ₹24 lakh from 843 shows, both reporting 14% occupancy. The film has now entered its second week of release on Thursday, September 17.
Sardar 2 is directed by P. S. Mithran and is the sequel to the 2022 film Sardar. Karthi reprises his dual role, joined by Rajisha Vijayan, S. J. Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, Yogi Babu and others. The movie is produced by Prince Pictures and IVY Entertainment, with music by Sam C. S., marking his 100th film as a composer, and additional tracks by OfRo. Cinematography is handled by George C. Williams.
