Gurmeet Singh’s feature‑film debut, Mirzapur: The Movie, has pushed past the ₹200‑crore threshold in just two weeks, according to trade data from Sacnilk. The film, which adapts the popular Prime Video series, crossed ₹202.84 crore at the domestic box office on Thursday, collecting ₹3.39 crore net that day. Despite a noticeable dip in its second week, the movie has maintained a steady presence against a crowded release slate.
Opening strong, Mirzapur amassed ₹148.45 crore net in its first week, placing it among the highest‑grossing Bollywood releases of the year. The second week began with a modest ₹9.20 crore on Friday, followed by ₹13.50 crore on Saturday and ₹13.25 crore on Sunday. Even as collections fell, the film held its own with ₹5.50 crore on Monday and Tuesday, keeping the overall trajectory on track.
The ensemble cast—Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan—has been a key draw, with the film’s story set during Season 1 of the web series. Produced by Excel Entertainment’s Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, the movie has already earned praise for its gritty portrayal of the titular town’s underworld.
While the film enjoys commercial success, it has also faced controversy. The track “Shoorveer” sparked objections from Rapperiya Baalam, who argued that its use by gangsters was disrespectful, despite the song celebrating Maharana Pratap. The Delhi High Court has instructed the Central Board of Film Certification to decide within a week whether to replace the song with background music, citing concerns over the portrayal of violence.
Looking ahead, Mirzapur: The Movie aims to surpass the ₹237.13 crore net collection of Hanuman Ansh, a surprise hit based on Neem Karoli Baba. With its strong opening and resilient second‑week performance, the film’s future trajectory remains promising as it continues to engage audiences across India.
