Mirzapur: The Movie earns ₹2.50 crore on Friday; enters third week

Gurmeet Singh’s feature‑film debut, Mirzapur: The Movie, has entered its third week of theatrical run this Friday after a solid first week and a respectable second week. The crime‑drama, starring Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan, opened on September 4 and has managed to hold its own against competition.

According to trade portal Sacnilk, the film earned a net ₹2.50 crore on Friday, bringing its domestic total to ₹205.95 crore. The collection came from 4,112 screens with an occupancy of just 15 %. While the weekend numbers are still pending, the film’s performance so far suggests it may continue to pull in decent receipts.

Mirzapur: The Movie collected ₹148.45 crore in its opening week, after a ₹25.75 crore opening day. Saturday and Sunday saw ₹32 crore and ₹36 crore respectively. Week two began with a dip to ₹9.50 crore on Friday, but the weekend rebounded with ₹13.50 crore on Saturday and ₹13.25 crore on Sunday. Monday to Thursday of the second week brought in between ₹3.75 crore and ₹5.50 crore each day.

The film now ranks among the top five highest‑grossing releases of 2026, surpassing Bhooth Bangla’s ₹182.36 crore. It still trails Hanuman Ansh’s ₹243.38 crore, while Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Border 2 occupy the top spots with ₹1,149.30 crore and ₹329.43 crore respectively.

Mirzapur: The Movie is directed by Gurmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna. Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, the film acts as an interquel set during Season 1 of the Prime Video series Mirzapur. The release has sparked controversy over the use of the song “Shoorveer,” originally intended for Maharana Pratap, which was featured in a fight sequence. Delhi High Court has ruled the usage “not in good taste” and has asked the CBFC to decide on necessary changes within a week.
