Karishma Tanna speaks out on postpartum blues; urges mothers to ditch guilt

Actor Karishma Tanna and her husband, Varun Bangera, welcomed their first child, a son named Ved Tanna Bangera, on July 29 of this year. The 35‑year‑old actress, known for her work on television and film, has been sharing snippets of her new life as a mother on social media, but she has also spoken candidly about the emotional challenges that accompany the transition.

In a recent interview with the Times of India, Tanna said she had mentally prepared herself for the changes that come with motherhood. “I had already prepared my mind for postpartum, that it is real, and I am strong. However, after all this, it still hits you, and it is not in your control,” she explained. She urged other women to stop judging themselves and to avoid the guilt that often follows postpartum blues. “Whatever you’re doing, it’s just perfect for you and your baby. A happy mother leads to a happy child,” she added.

She described the emotional roller‑coaster of being a new mother, noting that the strength required to recover from stitches, navigate hormonal shifts, and manage a newborn is unimaginable. “There are times when you find yourself crying over every little thing, and yet you keep going,” Tanna said, emphasizing that the experience of childbirth itself is a superpower.

Beyond the personal, Tanna highlighted how motherhood has deepened her sense of responsibility and connection. She spoke about the profound impact of bringing a child into the world, calling the experience both difficult and beautiful. “The strength women show during childbirth is what real strength looks like,” she remarked, underscoring the resilience she has discovered in herself.

Karishma Tanna’s career began with the popular television series “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi,” and she has since appeared in shows such as “Kahi To Milenge” and “Kumkum.” She has also taken part in reality programs like “Bigg Boss 8” and “Khatron Ke Khiladi 10,” and has acted in films including “Grand Masti” and “Sanju.” Her critically acclaimed performance as journalist Jagruti Pathak in Hansal Mehta’s web series “Scoop” earned her widespread praise.
