Khushbu, who herself has faced public scrutiny over her weight, highlighted the double standard that exists for men and women when it comes to aging and bodily changes.
Khushbu’s message began with a personal anecdote: she was once ridiculed for being heavier and later accused of using injections after losing weight. She used this experience to underline how society unfairly judges women’s bodies, especially after motherhood. “I know what it feels like to be judged for your body,” she wrote, adding that she has “always lived my life on my terms.”
The actress‑politician called out the obsession with a woman’s “prime.” She pointed out that men are praised for developing a 40‑inch waist or being “salt‑and‑pepper handsome,” while a woman’s wrinkles, kilos, or grey hair become fodder for public debate. “When a man ages, he is allowed to become more attractive with experience. But a woman ages, and suddenly every wrinkle, every kilo, every grey hair and every change in her body becomes a subject for public debate,” Khushbu wrote.
Khushbu questioned who has the authority to declare a woman’s prime and why society expects a woman to look the same after giving birth. She emphasized that a woman does not have a “prime” but a life, and every age of that life belongs to her. She urged Katrina to continue living with dignity, grace and self‑respect, adding that “you owe nobody an explanation for your body.”
Khushbu’s post came after a series of comments on social media that criticized the changes in Kaif’s body following the birth of her son. While Katrina has remained silent on the matter, fans and other celebrities rallied in her defence. Khushbu’s statement adds a prominent voice to the growing conversation about body autonomy and gendered expectations in the entertainment industry.
