Amazon Prime has reportedly secured a distribution deal for Megastar Chiranjeevi’s long‑delayed fantasy‑action film Vishwambhara, setting the stage for a theatrical release on the eve of Sankranthi 2027. The Indian streaming giant’s offer came after the finished copy of the film was screened, prompting the production house to move forward with a festival‑day launch strategy.
UV Creations, the production company behind Vishwambhara, confirmed that the Amazon Prime deal will see the movie hit cinemas only during the Sankranthi holidays. The agreement, according to insiders, stipulates that the film’s theatrical run will be confined to that major festival period, a move intended to maximise box‑office potential.
However, the decision has sparked a clash with another Chiranjeevi project. Producer KVN, who is backing the film Kaka, has clarified that Kaka will also release on Sankranthi, but no other films from the star will join the lineup. The overlap of two Chiranjeevi titles on the same holiday is raising concerns about a potential split in audience turnout and box‑office earnings.
Industry observers note that simultaneous releases of two films starring the same actor are rare and risky. Previous instances, such as the 2023 release of a young hero’s film, have shown that dual releases can dilute collections and undermine the success of both projects. The current situation mirrors that scenario, with the stakes higher given Chiranjeevi’s star power.
While the Amazon Prime partnership promises a high‑profile theatrical debut for Vishwambhara, the conflict with Kaka could force one of the parties to reconsider its release strategy. Both producers have yet to announce any adjustments, but industry insiders warn that a resolution will be necessary to avoid a detrimental impact on the films’ commercial prospects.
