Rohit Shetty’s long‑anticipated comedy‑drama, Golmaal 5, is set to hit Indian cinemas on January 8, 2027, after the director announced the release date on September 19, 2026. The film brings together a star‑packed cast, featuring Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Shreyas Talpade, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Sharman Joshi in key roles.
To celebrate the announcement, Shetty released a fresh poster on social media, captioning it, “Laughter, fun, joy, happiness and family. Nothing else.” The image showcases the ensemble, underscoring the film’s promise of light‑hearted entertainment for the whole family.
The franchise has a history of 20 years, beginning with the original Golmaal in 2006. Shetty reflected on the journey in a March note, thanking audiences for their support and acknowledging that while the series has occasionally disappointed, it has always remained honest. He expressed excitement about returning to the screen with a new team for Golmaal 5.
Akshay Kumar joins the cast for the first time in the series, while Sharman Joshi returns after his appearance in the inaugural film. The film also marks a return for Tusshar Kapoor, who had not featured in the franchise’s previous entries. The ensemble is joined by Shreyas Talpade and Arshad Warsi, who have been staples of the earlier installments.
Previously, the fourth installment, Golmaal Again, was released in 2017 and later re‑released as a horror‑comedy, featuring Parineeti Chopra and Tabu. That film performed well at the box office, reinforcing the franchise’s popularity.
Shetty’s most recent directorial effort before this announcement was Singham Again (2024). Ajay Devgn, meanwhile, is slated to appear in Drishyam The Conclusion, the final part of a crime‑thriller trilogy adapted from acclaimed Malayalam films.
