Rohit Shetty has officially announced that the much‑anticipated fifth installment of the Golmaal comedy franchise will hit Indian cinemas on 8 January 2027. The director revealed the release date on social media, accompanied by a new teaser that promises the same brand of chaotic humour that has made the series a household name. In a message that echoed the franchise’s playful tone, Shetty wrote: “LAUGHTER, FUN, JOY, HAPPINESS AND FAMILY…BAS, NOTHING ELSE ❤️❤️❤️ 8TH JAN 2027 🙏.”
The film brings together a star‑studded cast that includes Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Kunal Kemmu, Sharman Joshi, Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor. Devgn returns as Gopal, while Warsi reprises his role as Madhav. Joshi, who last appeared in the original 2006 Golmaal: Fun Unlimited as Laxman, rejoins the ensemble after nearly twenty years. Talpade also reprises his character, and Kapoor returns as Lucky. Adding to the reunion, Akshay Kumar makes his debut in the Golmaal universe, with reports suggesting he may play an antagonist, although his exact role remains undisclosed.
Production began in April 2026 in the hill station of Ooty, with the cast travelling through the scenic locale as part of the launch footage. By August, the dialogue portions of the film were reportedly wrapped, leaving only two songs—including the title track—to be shot. Kapoor had finished his individual schedule in May and celebrated the wrap with a selfie from the set.
Shetty’s announcement on the director’s social media not only set the release date but also released a message that 2027 will begin with “fun, laughter and a whole lot of Golmaal!” Fans can expect a new year of chaos, comedy and the familiar Golmaal madness as the franchise returns to the big screen after a decade.
