Vijay Sethupathi clears BBT comment; praises CM Vijay and his son

During the audio launch of his upcoming film Baththa, veteran actor Vijay Sethupathi used the platform to clear up a misunderstanding that had arisen from a recent episode of Bigg Boss Tamil 10. The controversy began when Sethupathi criticized a housemate, Shathiga, for making “reckless promises” and not following through. Though his remarks were aimed solely at the contestant, many viewers interpreted them as a veiled attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay K. S. Vijay and his son, actor Jason Sanjay, who had recently starred with Sethupathi in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film Master.

In a calm and measured tone, Sethupathi clarified that his comments were directed only at the Bigg Boss contestants and not at any political figure. He explained that “whatever I discuss on this stage is only between the contestants and me. They are not meant for anybody outside.” The actor added that he should have clarified the matter earlier, but felt it necessary to address the issue after the backlash had grown.

While addressing the audience, Sethupathi also paid tribute to Vijay and his son. He recalled wishing Jason on his birthday and being pleasantly surprised when Vijay himself called to thank him. “I didn’t expect that because he’s a big superstar, and I was surprised that Sanjay liked me,” he said. The actor went on to describe Jason as a “cute fellow” and mentioned visiting the set of Sigma, Jason’s debut film, which is scheduled to release in October and will compete with Baththa at the box office.

The audio launch event also featured remarks from director Atlee, who urged the audience to confront issues directly rather than resorting to social media drama. He emphasized that the new generation should not fall into traps and that life will guide them to their desired destination.

With the controversy now clarified, Vijay Sethupathi’s focus remains on the promotion of Baththa, while the film’s release is set for later this year. The actor’s respectful nod to his peers and his willingness to address misunderstandings publicly have helped smooth the way for a successful launch.
