Maharashtra CM Fadnavis praises Hanuman Ansh crew; meets director Vishal Chaturvedi

In a remarkable turn of events, the devotional drama "Hanuman Ansh," which chronicles the life of spiritual leader Neem Karoli Baba, has surged to become a box‑office juggernaut, crossing the ₹300 crore mark in India. The film, which opened modestly with a ₹10 lakh opening and barely ₹1.50 crore in its first fortnight, experienced a dramatic turnaround thanks to strong word‑of‑mouth buzz. From its fourth week onward, it has been raking in over ₹60 crore net each week, and on its 41st day it added ₹6 crore net, bringing the domestic tally to ₹237 crore net (₹280 crore gross). This places it as the fourth‑highest‑grossing film of the year, trailing only behind "Dhurandhar 2," "Border 2," and "Spider‑Man: Brand New Day."

The film’s success has not gone unnoticed by political leaders. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid a visit to the film’s team at his official residence in Varsha, Mumbai, where he welcomed director Vishal Chaturvedi and the crew. In a post shared on X, Fadnavis expressed his congratulations, saying, "It was great to have team 'Hanuman Ansh' at Varsha, last evening, to seek blessings of Ganpati Bappa. Congratulated Vishal Chaturvedi and team on their great work and wished more success in all the endeavours!" The CM’s video of the meeting highlighted the film’s cultural impact and the government’s support for regional cinema.

"Hanuman Ansh" follows the journey of a grieving young man, Lakshminarayan, who, after his mother’s death, embarks on a quest across North India to seek answers about life, death, and suffering. His spiritual odyssey eventually leads him to become the revered saint Neem Karoli Baba. The story spans from the saint’s early years at age 13 to the period when he gained widespread reverence. Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, a doctor turned filmmaker, the movie is produced by Swambhu Media Network Pvt. Ltd. and features producers Ragini S., Namrata G. S., and Anupriya A. Nagar.

Despite its humble beginnings, "Hanuman Ansh" has outperformed newer releases such as "Mirzapur The Movie," earning nearly 50% more. The film’s sixth week in theatres continues to see robust attendance, underscoring the power of devotional storytelling and the audience’s appetite for spiritually themed cinema. With its record‑breaking run and high‑profile endorsement, the film stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of faith‑based narratives in contemporary Indian cinema.
